Three Thriller Shows I'm Watching, and One I Will Be

hey there,

with an extensive break comes an extensive Netflix period: no deadlines (although I do have deadlines), no pressure, and no guilt. Usually when I'm on Netflix I'm rewatching old movies and tv shows that I definitely have seen plenty of times now. Recently I've been on a American crime show trip -murder, mystery, men- I can't get enough of it. Funnily enough all three are based on true events, all three have males leads, and all three take place around the same time. So if you're looking for something intriguing, here's three shows I'm watching and one I will be as soon as it airs:


MANHUNT: UNABOMBER

Manhunt: Unabomber follows the story of FBI profiler Jim 'Fitz' Fitzgerald who is put on the case of the Unabomber. The unabomber (University Airline Bomber) was notorious for targeting his victims through mailed bombs. It is the FBIs tasks to create a profile that results in the arrest of the unabomber, but they have yet to succeed. That's where Fitz comes in: his unique take on the language of the unabomber presents him with clues that might just lead to the arrest of this terrorist... or is it all just words?

Mindhunter

Mindhunter is a trip back to the late 1970s as it follows two FBI agents from the behavioral science unit who aren't just interested in the whodunnit, but in the underlying psychology of the murderers. Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) take it upon themselves to classify the murderers, look for patterns, diversion, and other clues as to what drives these murderers to this repetitive behavior. If it intrigues you to hear what drives a person to have sex with the dismembered head of his mother, but you don't want to dedicate a career to it: this show is for you. 

Mindhunter's ten episode first season is available on Netflix.

The People VS. O.J. Simpson

Possibly the most famous American court case: The People vs. O.J. Simpson, now on Netflix for you to relive! Or more likely for you to get introduced to, because it's a 22 year old case. Regardless of your familiarity with the case, this first season of the American Crime Show follows the trial of the century as it investigates the murders of footballer O.J. 'The Juice' Simpson's ex wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. Whilst the conviction of O.J. seems pretty straightforward given the evidence at the crime scene, O.J.'s lawyers have one or two tricks up their sleeves that might just throw a wrench in the works... You can be the judge of that! (Get it, 'cause it's a court trial and there's a judge)

American Crime Story: The People VS. O.J. Simpson is available on Netflix and consists of ten episodes.

Something I'm anticipating..

if you haven't had enough or you simply finished watching all of these shows already, let me introduce you to the newest installment of the American Crime Story series: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. Now truthfully, I probably wouldn't have known or cared about this if it wasn't for Darren Criss -who plays Andrew Cunanan- but I know about it and I'm excited so here we go. As with The People vs. O.J. Simpson the Versace story follows the lives of everyone involved in the lives of the murder victim. From watching the various trailers this season takes a way more graphic approach, but somehow it fits the scene and the era. I mean we're talking 80s-90s here: everything is extra.

What I hope The Assassination of Gianni Versace will be is a culmination of all the things I loved about my previous recommendations all wrapped up in a delicious Darren Criss sandwich.

Lil bit disturbing, but that's what you get from watching all these crime shows.
